about
Vlad has has been conceived in Romania during the communist regime in 1982. He went to school dressed in uniform and was forced to sing for the glory of the nation. Just after Ceausescu's dictature collapsed, he has been exported to Switzerland. During high school, he discovered a profound link with images, through internet and through the lens of black and white enlargers. Since then, he shot a lot of rolls with his Nikon FM, and later F100. He also loves to play with all kinds of cameras and films, and he gave photography classes to high-school students. He was ranked 3rd at a national photo contest in 1999.
To be pragmatic, he studied computer engineering, with a specialization in robotics and artificial intelligence. He also learned a lot about information systems and multimedia design.
In august 2005, he traded his computer for a Canon 20D and left for Los Angeles to see other horizons, and worked part-time as photographer for the UCLA Daily Bruin, the US no 1 college newspaper. He published several pictures on cover page and many others on exciting topics. He shoots mainly digital because it is cheaper and quicker, but there is nothing he likes more than a Hasselblad and a Leica M6 (he still wants a Leica).
